FAST-X
SERIES BOARDS
FAST-X PCI-X BOARDS
INTRODUCTION
The Fast-X frame grabber
series is for users who anticipate a demand for extreme I/O
requirements or higher bandwidth, complex image processing and real-time
fast storage in a cost effective platform. The base Fast-X, is a one-half raw-length PCI board with four GigE ports and/or three basic 85 MHz Camera Link Channels and more
which provide input for the newest cameras as well as a header for
adaptation of other high speed interfaces. The front end data is
formatted and preprocessed by a FPGA before being sent to the memory subsection, processor, GigE interfaces or other outputs. Finally, the Fast-X
interfaces to the host computer through a PCI-X or PCIe interface for state-of-the-art
data acquisition. Options include the addition of multiple(8) Serial ATA (SATA)
150 MB/sec interfaces for continuous high-speed data storage without
the usual OS or PCI transfer delays.
FAST-X KEY SERIES FEATURES
The diagram below outlines
the basic functional section of the FAST-X boards. These are:
- One half raw PCI form factor
board with 1-2 GB dedicated high speed DDRAM for sustained real-time
on-board storage
- Collects data from
up to three asynchronous basic Camera (channel) Link channels

FAST-XDIG
BOARDS
INTRODUCTION
The Fast-XDIG is a two thirds raw-length PCI board with two input connectors. Each connector supports 16 data bits, 10 general purpose inputs, and 6 general purpose outputs. Clock rates up to 166 MHz can be supported. All the inputs and outputs are connected to an FPGA on the board are essentially available for any purpose required by the interface. The front-end data is formatted and preprocessed by a FPGA before being sent to the memory subsection, processor, GigE interfaces or other outputs. Finally, the Fast-XDIG interfaces to the host computer through a 4 lane PCIe or PCI-X interface for state-of-the-art data acquisition. Options include the addition of multiple(8) Serial ATA (SATA) 150 MB/sec interfaces for continuous high-speed data storage without the usual OS or PCI transfer delays and four GigE ports.
